Vicki Connerty joins as Strategic Advisor

We are excited to welcome Vicki Connerty as our latest Strategic Advisor.

An award-winning and published playwright, Vicki also brings with her over 20 years of media and marketing industry experience, specialising in the development of commercial partnerships and content creation for global brands such as Google, Qantas and Disney. Vicki will support the team as we develop our partnerships globally, and having lived and worked in London, Sydney and most recently New York, Vicki will also help to provide invaluable local knowledge and insights that help drive awareness of Cancer Platform across our three key territories (North America, Australia/New Zealand and Europe).

Originally diagnosed with breast cancer in Sydney in 2015, Vicki wrote a searingly honest and often-hilarious blog called 'The Fellowship of the Ringlets' that shared the realities of balancing a cancer diagnosis and treatment alongside the mundanities of everyday life. Six years later, whilst living in New York during the pandemic, her cancer returned. Having now returned to the UK, Vicki is one of the 60,000+ women in the UK living with secondary breast cancer. She is passionate about the prevention of misinformation around the disease, both for cancer patients as well as their loved ones.

Vicki comments, "Having received two cancer diagnoses and life-extending treatment in three countries over the last ten years, I've inevitably seen and heard more than my fair share of mis-information. When I was first diagnosed in 2015, all I really wanted was somewhere or someone I could trust to give me the right answers and importantly, the right questions! As a result, I'm absolutely thrilled to be involved with the amazing team at The Cancer Awareness Trust to ensure Cancer Platform provides everyone with the tools, the knowledge and the confidence to better navigate a cancer diagnosis.”

Prof. Sir Chris Evans, Founder adds, “The team is greatly improved by the expert input and boundless energy Vicki brings at a pivotal time in our development of Cancer Platform. Our thanks to our Founding Partners WeAre8 for introducing us to Vicki. I’m excited to see what she can bring, having already helped our team think through a number of strategic challenges. Welcome Vicki!"
