Jane Clarke joins as our latest Founding Patron
A powerful collaboration is underway between Cancer Platform and Jane Clarke.
Jane is both a dietitian and Cordon Bleu chef with more than 30 years' experience in the nutrition industry. Jane is the author of nine best-selling books, was a columnist for over a decade for The Daily Mail, Observer, The Times and The Mail on Sunday, and regularly contributes on TV. She worked with Jamie Oliver on several of his projects, including the School Meals revolution, which showed that people-power can bring about social change. It is with this same mindset and passion that Jane set up Nourish and The Nourish Afternoon Tea which provides a solution to the problem of undernourishment and provides empowerment and inspiration to those who are vulnerable or facing a health challenge.
Jane was the first person in the UK to open a private dietetic clinic, establishing a highly successful International specialist Nutrition and Dietetic practice that has been running for the past 30 years. She advises some of Britain's leading sportspeople, entertainers and media professionals, and has been personal dietitian and nutritionist for David Beckham and Benedict Cumberbatch. She is particularly regarded for her work with those living with serious illnesses such as cancer, neurological degenerative conditions, dementia and stroke, supporting patients from early diagnosis right through to end of life care, across all ages, including paediatric cancers and early onset dementia.
Together we are developing exciting and important output for advice on nutrition throughout the cancer journey, collaborating with our partners including Harvard, Bocuse d’Or UK, Andreas Antona and many others. Jane has also worked closely with our Ambassador Andy Taylor on his cancer journey.
On joining, Jane said, “I am so excited and honoured to be involved with everyone at the Cancer Platform. The time has come to hugely disrupt what has been a neglected area in the whole world of supporting someone living with cancer. It has for decades been scandalous that the right information and inspiration has been so sparse and it's therefore so exciting to be able to partner with such passionate challenge-focussed people led by Sir Chris Evans, who like me are prepared to challenge the norm, like never before….so watch this space!.“
“It doesn’t get better than Jane Clarke when it comes to expert nutrition advice so it’s especially exciting to see this collaboration happen. Everyone affected by cancer should get advice on nutrition and our aim is to ensure it actually goes wider than that, from prevention to end of life, free of misinformation and personalised wherever possible” Prof. Sir Chris Evans, Founder.
