Sarah Davey joins Cancer Awareness Trust as a Founding Patron

Sarah joins our esteemed Founding Patrons, with a generous gift from The Davey Foundation, backing Cancer Platform's mission to build the digital tool that enables everyone to face cancer empowered with expert knowledge and truth providing a sense of hope and optimism.

Sarah and her late husband, Mark Davey, founded The Davey Foundation with a shared belief in helping those less fortunate than themselves. Launched in March 2011, the foundation was established to continue their philanthropic endeavours into retirement. Sadly, Mark passed away very unexpectedly in March 2018 at the age of 50. Sarah, accompanied by an exceptional team of trustees, has commendably upheld the mission of The Davey Foundation, preserving its remarkable legacy of philanthropy and impactful contributions.

Originally from Hong Kong and raised in London, Sarah went on to have a successful 25-year career in technology. With experience spanning the UK, USA, and Europe, Sarah retired in 2009 but remains passionate about leveraging her skills to support local communities and charitable causes.

Sarah's dedication to making a difference in the charity sector reflects her commitment to utilising her energy, expertise, and love for people in meaningful ways.

Sarah Davey, The Davey Foundation, Trustee said: “Cancer affects so many people around the world, it doesn’t discriminate between age, race, sex or prosperity, and most of us will know of someone who has been affected by it.  One of The Davey Foundations’ objectives is “the advancement of health or saving of lives”, so myself with our Trustees are delighted to support the Cancer Awareness Trust to help bring the Cancer Platform to those who need it.  I know Mark would have been absolutely chuffed to pieces for us to be on this journey with the Cancer Awareness Trust.  As a Welshman with a love for playing rugby and his electric guitars, Mark would have understood and appreciated the importance of the Evamore Music Group within the Cancer Awareness Trust.”

Dr Jane Smit, Cancer Awareness Trust, Chair of Trustees, said: "It’s a great honour to welcome Sarah Davey and The Davey Foundation as a Founding Patron of Cancer Awareness Trust. The support of our Founding Patrons is crucial in developing Cancer Platform and helping to get us there quicker. We are incredibly grateful to Sarah and The Davey Foundation for their generous contribution which will make a real impact in supporting those affected by cancer."
