Seasoned angel investor Chris Barrett joins as Founding Patron
The Cancer Awareness Trust is delighted to introduce our latest Founding Patron, philanthropist, and creative industries investor Chris Barrett. Chris is a seasoned angel investor, General Partner at Media Content Investors, Mentor in Investment at UCL Innovations Enterprise, a non-executive director at Trident Cloud and an Executive Producer at Anna Barbara Films, alongside his philanthropic work.
We first met Chris at an event kindly hosted by KQ Labs in 2022 and have benefited from his advice and connections ever since. We are thrilled to welcome him as a Founding Patron following a generous donation towards our development, and a number of exciting introductions made to new organisations, many of whom we’ll be collaborating with.

Chris Barrett said of the announcement, “My father, Ian Barrett, died last year, and like most of us, his life had been impacted by cancer. He experienced bowel cancer, but more profoundly, he lost people close to him before their time. One of those was my grandmother. When I was nine, cancer sounded like a horribly scary thing. Many years later, I got closer to the problem and some of the amazing people who are working with earlier diagnoses, new therapies, and better support. When I heard about Sir Chris and his amazing Evamore Project, bringing musicians together to refocus the fight against cancer, this joined many dots for me. In memory of our father and fifty years on from my grandmother’s untimely death, supporting and becoming a small part of The Cancer Awareness Trust is an important next step.” Chris Barrett, Founding Patron
