Honouring a legacy: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

It is with huge sadness that we join the nation, the commonwealth and the world in mourning the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

Across the nation, Her Majesty’s unwavering support for the cancer community she gave her name, time and support to will long be treasured by the many hospitals, medical professionals, scientists and charities, working every day to transform the cancer journey for many years to come. This includes our very own co-founder, Sir Chris Evans, who tonight shared his heartfelt thoughts with our team and talked so beautifully of the many treasured moments of his time with Her Majesty.

“Only one single extraordinary person has been there always, reigning above for our entire lives to date… Our Queen. In all this time, extremely rich and famous people, celebrities with massive egos and self importance, world-changing investors and billions of billionaire wealth, all came and all went, but Her Majesty stayed with us throughout… she served us until the last hour of her life. We must continue to honour her legacy in any way we can." Professor Sir Chris Evans OBE.

Sir Chris was lucky enough to have met and dined on his own with Her Majesty and Prince Phillip and was one of the youngest scientists to be awarded both an OBE and Knighthood by The Queen, in recognition of his biomedical work over many years. The photo above is one of many that captures a moment Sir Chris will treasure for ever with Her Majesty.
