Quentin Esme Brown becomes Founding Patron

A new year brings with it a new Founding Patron. Professor Sir Chris Evans and The Cancer Awareness Trust are delighted to introduce our latest Founding Patron, Quentin Esme Brown.

Quentin and Sir Chris share the passion and energy needed to transform the cancer care journey for the people in their own lives, and those all around the world who will be affected by the disease. In their very first meeting, it was clear just how much this work means to Quentin, with cancer impacting on the lives of family and friends, increasingly affecting younger friends and those around her.

As a Founding Patron Quentin not only joins our growing team of Patrons and Partners helping to deliver The Cancer Platform, but she’ll also add some excitement to our plans for events, engaging other donors and delivering the direct impact to those living with cancer throughout our development journey. Alongside her own generous gift, Quentin will help to raise over £100,000 towards the engagement of people living with cancer in the design and delivery of The Cancer Platform. The work starts now!

“Diagnostics and early intervention — critical factors to survival and healing. These measures are often the determinate between one’s chance at life over death. When it comes to cancer, these words are not commonly a part of the narrative. The majority of those affected find out when it is too late, driven to get medical attention only after the disease begins to noticeably emerge. The trauma that ensues is not just that of the patient and their physical being, but also of their loved ones… infecting every aspect of life, from emotions to finance. Resources are sparse, which exasperates a system that is already inundated with mixed messaging and contradictory statements about treatments and causes. Within minutes of sitting down with Sir Chris, I felt hope that I never before would have associated with cancer. His passion towards a global solution to bring down the ever rising numbers, and unbridled determination to fulfill his mission is both humbling and contagious. And so, I am honoured to join Sir Chris and his team in bringing hope and answers to the millions of people around the world who are affected by and living with cancer. I see the devastation of cancer in the homes of too many. I saw it in my own, losing my father to the disease at just fifteen, and now, in my early thirties, I am heartbroken to see the disease beginning to take hold of some of my peers. I know just how important it is to have a trusted resource. Given the current climate with media, it is understandable that there is little faith in what is available to those facing this disease. It is absolutely crucial for those fighting (or supporting someone in the fight) to have a trustworthy and accessible arena where they can attain the truthful answers to their questions. This is the promise upon which The Cancer Platform will deliver. As a Founding Patron, I am pledging to support through fundraising and connections – together we can make a real difference quickly and efficiently, as we have no more time to waste.” Quentin Esme Brown

“Cancer will affect everyone, and Quentin has demonstrated just how passionate she is in joining us in this global and ambitious aim, to work together in doing everything we can to transform the cancer journey for millions of people. It’s an honour to be joined by Quentin and I predict we’ll have plenty of fun working together to bring others along the journey too!" Prof. Sir Chris Evans, Co-Founder, The Cancer Awareness Trust
