Steps To Work join as Founding Partner
The Cancer Awareness Trust is delighted to announce our newest Founding Partner, Steps To Work.
Steps To Work is committed to creating opportunities and changing futures for people facing multiple barriers, many of them dealing with long-term health conditions. By coming together, we will position Steps To Work as our Lead Partner in the UK for employment advice and support for those affected by cancer.
As a Founding Partner, Steps to Work back our wider, global vision, and will collaborate with the Trust to inform how we help people searching for information and services that support them back into work in the UK. Many people affected by cancer find themselves struggling to secure work after periods of unemployment due to treatment, where employers are unsure about hiring them, where they aren’t aware of their rights, or of the support available to help them maintain work alongside their cancer journey.
Steps To Work has already supported a number of people from our insight and research work who needed support accessing work opportunities and to understand their rights to benefits – the need is clear and together we’ll develop this support on our platform, making it easy to get the support when it’s needed, and positioning Steps To Work to support many more people into work.
“We all know someone who has been affected by cancer. It touches all of us. Too often we see people struggling with the impact of their cancer diagnosis because of the impact losing their job and income. We can do something about that, to support the employers and those looking for work. We’ve shown already how capable we are of supporting people through our early work with The Cancer Awareness Trust. It’s an honour to now formalise the relationship and scale up what we can do together.” Prof. Paul Cadman, CEO
“Living with cancer doesn’t always mean you can’t work. Employers and people looking for work need support to understand this, and we need to make it easier for people affected by cancer to get the information and support they need so they can continue to do what is right for them. This collaboration will really help us get that right. I am thrilled to add Steps To Work to our group of Founding Partners and to work together on this.” Professor Sir Chris Evans, Founder, The Cancer Awareness Trust.
